Stéphane Vigny was born in Le Mans in 1977. After studying at 3 universities - Rennes 2, Paris 8 and Paris 1 - where he obtained a D.E.A (post-Master’s degree) in arts in 2004, he took part in the Palais de Tokyo’s international residency programme, Le Pavillon, under the direction of Ange Leccia. He participated in a number of group exhibitions, before collaborating with the Paris gallery LHK, where he had his first solo show. He then joined Claudine Papillon's gallery, with whom he worked from 2012 to 2015. Finally, he worked briefly with the Martine Aboucaya gallery until 2016. Over the last fifteen years, his work has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, the Fondation Vuitton, the Château de Maisons Laffitte, the SongEun Art Space in Seoul and the Inima de Paula Museum in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He collaborates regularly with cultural organisation Piacé le Radieux in the Sarthe region, where he recently set up his studio. In 2019, he created the “Memorial Dedicated to the Soldiers who died for France during Overseas Operations”, which was erected and inaugurated in the Parc André Citroën in Paris. In 2020, his first monograph, “Plaire”, was published by éditions amac.
